Judicial Officers in Western Uganda Undergo Cyber Crime Training

More than 30 Judicial Officers working in Western Uganda are taking part in a two-day training on cybercrime; its emerging trends and evidence management at Hotel Triangle in Mbarara City.

The training was opened by the Judicial Training Institute Executive Director, Lady Justice Damalie N Lwanga who was flanked by the Mbarara Head of Circuit, Lady Justice Joyce Kavuma. 

Lady Justice Lwanga noted that there was need for Judicial Officers to respond to developments in technology to enhance the administration of justice hence the need for the training. 

She called upon the participants who include Registrars and Magistrates to pay attention to the facilitators and share experiences to foster the learning experience. 

Justice Kavuma thanked JTI for having considered training Judicial Officers serving in the Western part of the country to help them understand the changing terrain and nature of disputes confronting their judicial work.

The participants are being tipped on Uganda's Legal framework on cybercrime, the Uganda Police Force will talk about how these crimes are investigated while officials from Uganda Communications Commission will take them through their role, infrastructure, and mitigation measures being undertaken to keep Uganda and its economy as a cybercrime free society. Participants will also hear about the adjudication experience and the best practices for handling cybercrime cases.

The JTI Registrar, HW Prossy Katushabe is moderating the training.
